Vibrations of Matter

"My initial feeling was for sculpture": an interest never dormant, since the concrete presence of her works reveals itself in reliefs, projections and protrusions, like controlled hints. This is how Anna Fabris introduces herself, adding: "...because matter is my interest". Thus her passion for manual work and physicality is outlined, to which she joins the presence of colour as an echo, as a touch of felt and controlled emotion.

Without doubt, in the attraction to the materiality and thickness of a thread or a rope, the ductility of the fibre is enhanced – soft and resistant, at times redeemed by quick touches of blue; chromatic exhilarations fixed on hemp, adapted to contained plastic protrusions, arranged to create calculated compositions of rhythms, to mark the dialogue between the place of raised matter and the surface of the picture, structured in broad undulating zones of vivid colour.

The fascination does not fade of the singular relationship with the rough beauty of rope and the knot, felt as the vigorous soul of her work, used to modulate space with the geometric regularity of fluorescent reds, gold and silver and to discover them, moreover, in the sophisticated variant of refined, luxurious whites and blacks.
